Agentic AI in document management - GenKITS project presents approaches at the Starke+Reichert Partner Days

On May 22 and 23, 2025, the GenKITS project team presented innovative approaches to the use of agent-based artificial intelligence in document management at the Partner Days of Starke+Reichert GmbH & Co. Dr. Mahei Li, Philipp Reinhard and David Sonnabend presented the research project, which is funded by the Hessian Ministry for Digitalization and the Wirtschafts- und Infrastrukturbank Hessen, to around 80 participants.

The presentation on the first day focused on the transition from classic single agents to dynamic multi-agent systems. The concepts developed were based on user interviews and co-creative workshops, supplemented by future-oriented methods such as forecasting and backcasting. Among other things, a map of agentic AI in the DMS context and the prototypes of the DocClassifier and DocAnalyst agents were presented.

On the second day of the event, the GenKITS team led an interactive practical workshop with around 30 partners. The aim was to teach how to deal with typical risks of agentic systems, such as hallucinations or non-deterministic behavior, in a practical way. The participants developed concrete scenarios, discussed solution strategies and transferred these to their individual application contexts.

A key finding was that uncertainties in multi-agent systems only arise in the specific context of use. This is precisely where the GenKITS approach comes in, making these risks recognizable and manageable at an early stage through structured reflection and scenario development.

The project team would like to thank Starke+Reichert for the open exchange and the platform for the joint further development of digital document management.
