The Sustainable Finance department (Prof. Dr. Christian Klein), as part of a research network, is involved in a project funded by Stiftung Mercator.
The aim of the “Research Association for Climate-Compatible Finance” project is to develop innovative financing approaches to address the climate crisis and biodiversity loss. The three-year effort addresses the most pressing global challenges highlighted in the World Economic Forum's Global Risk Report 2024. Research projects are carried out in four core areas: 1) disclosure, 2) impact, 3) small investors, and 4) education. The project, which is funded by Stiftung Mercator, combines scientific excellence with social impact. The foundation is supporting the research network over a project period of 36 months until 2027 with a total amount of around 2.5 million euros. The department has a funding budget of around 1,000,000 euros at its disposal.
