On March 28, 2025, Yuru Jin, a Master's student of Information Systems at the University of Zurich, presented her talk "How can AI shape the future of academic peer review?" as part of a research jour fixe. In it, she presented her research on PeerPolish, an AI-supported tool to support the academic peer review process. The tool aims to improve the efficiency and quality of peer reviews by generating structured feedback.

Supervised by Prof. Dr. Liudmila Zavolokina, Yuru Jin is working on the role of artificial intelligence in the peer review process. She is particularly interested in digital innovations, especially the question of how generative AI can be used to support and improve academic peer reviews.

In the ensuing discussion, the potential and challenges of integrating generative AI into academic peer review processes were discussed. The topic of the responsible use of AI in academic research was also part of the exchange.
