This academy deals with questions of gender, identity and family images in a global and historical sense. Role and gender concepts, especially in the pre-colonial era, will be explored and a critical look at supposedly "traditional" concepts will be taken. Central questions are: how are queer perspectives being fought for and implemented today? How do these movements manifest themselves in Asia, for example, as well as in African and Latin American contexts? Together we will look for ways to unite activism and commitment in order to create spaces of diversity and tolerance.
