In 2023, the unit was extremely successful in submitting research papers for presentation at internationally prestigious conferences. All unit members had the opportunity to discuss their research with international colleagues. At the 28th Conference of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) in Limassol from June 27 to June 30, 2023, Daniel Engler, Dr. Marvin Gleue, Thilo Haverkamp, Sophia Möller, Mareike Staar, and Prof. Dr. Andreas Ziegler had the opportunity to present their current work.

Third "Workshop on Empirical Sustainable Finance (WESFi)" at the University of Kassel
The Units Empirical Economic Research and Sustainable Finance hosted the third "Workshop on Empirical Sustainable Finance (WESFi)" on December 09 and 10, 2021. Current empirical work and ideas on the topics of "Socially Responsible Investing (SRI)" and "Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)" were presented and discussed. Due to the Corona crisis, the workshop was organized in digital form.

At the Jahrestagung des Vereins für Socialpolitik in Cologne (online) from September 27 to September 30, 2020 Dr. Elke D. Groh, Dr. Gunnar Gutsche, Dr. Anja Köbrich León, and Prof. Dr. Andreas Ziegler had the opportunity to present their current work.
Second international "Workshop on Empirical Sustainable Finance (WESFi)" at the University of Kassel
On October 13, 2020, the Units Empirical Economic Research and Sustainable Finance hosted the second "Workshop on Empirical Sustainable Finance (WESFi)". The workshop was part of the BMBF funded project "Instruments for financing low-emission infrastructure and their significance for climate policy (IF)". The participants presented and discussed recent empirical studies and ideas on "Socially Responsible Investing (SRI)" and "Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)". Due to the corona crisis, the workshop was organized in hybrid form. As in the previous year, this enabled renowned researchers from various countries (Germany, Switzerland, France, Canada, Japan) to participate.
Japanese-German research cooperation
Prof. Toshihide Arimura, Asst. Prof. Miwa Nakai, Tatsuya Abe and Riga Wu from the Waseda Institute of Political Economy, in Tokyo, were guests at the Unit Empirical Economic Research and the Unit Economics with a focus on decentralized energy economics in August 2019.
In October 2019, the two units, represented by Prof. Dr. Andreas Ziegler, Prof. Dr. Heike Wetzel, Dr. Gunnar Gutsche, Dr. Elke D. Groh and Victor von Loessl, visited their research partners in Japan. Within the framework of the "Energy and Climate Policy Workshop" at Kyoto Sangyo University, a workshop with Prof. Takanori Ida at Kyoto University and project meetings for joint research work within the BMBF-funded projects NostaClimate and BeSmart at Waseda University in Tokyo, a productive exchange of latest research findings and joint project ideas took place.
The Japanese-German research cooperation is funded by the DAAD within the framework of the Program for Project-Related Exchange of Persons.

Junior Research Award GS EBGo 2018/2019
Once a year, the Junior Research Award of the Graduate School of Economic Behavior and Governance (GS EBGo) is granted to a junior researcher of the Institute of Economics at the University of Kassel for outstanding publications in scientific journals. On November 21, 2019 the prize was awarded to Elke D. Groh (Unit Empirical Economic Research) and Sonja Zitzelsberger (Unit Environmental and Behavioral Economics).
International workshop "Empirical Sustainable Finance" at the University of Kassel
On August 6, 2019, the unit hosted an international workshop on "Empirical Sustainable Finance". Researchers from Waseda University in Tokyo, École de Management Léonard da Vinci in Paris, and the University of Kassel participated in this first-time workshop. The participants presented and discussed recent empirical studies and ideas on "Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)" and "Socially Responsible Investing (SRI)".
AURÖ workshop Environmental and Resource Economics for young researchers at the University of Kassel
In 2019 the Unit Environmental and Behavioral Economics (Prof. Dr. Dannenberg) and the Unit Empirical Economic Research hosted the workshop for young researchers of the "Ausschuss für Umwelt- und Ressourcenökonomik (AURÖ) im Verein für Socialpolitik". These workshops are addressed to young researchers who conduct research in the field of environmental and resource economics. The workshop took place from February 18 to February 20, 2019, at the Campus Center of the University of Kassel. Besides exciting presentations and discussions, the workshop welcomed very prominent guests, i.e. Prof. Dr. Stefan Baumgärtner (University of Freiburg), Prof. Dr. Andreas Lange (University of Hamburg), Dr. Ulrich Oberndorfer (Federal Chancellery), and Prof. Dr. Daan van Soest (Tilburg University), as keynote speakers.
