Prof. Dr. Matthias Söllner, Head of the Department of Information Systems and Systems Development at the ITeG Scientific Center of the University of Kassel, was selected as a new member of the Hessian Center for AI - hessian.AI in December 2024.

He brings expertise in trust and hybrid intelligence (Söllner) to the network and will further enrich the research activities of the Hessian AI Center.

The Hessian Center for Artificial Intelligence hessian.AI was founded in 2020 to bring together the expertise and skills of the original 22 founding professors in Hesse. 20 additional professorships were created. In cooperation with 13 participating universities, the center stands for excellent research, application orientation, promotion of young talent and transfer to business and society.

hessian.AI is a center with a forward-looking and internationally competitive research profile and a future-oriented research agenda. The main scientific goal is to establish the third wave of AI - novel AI systems that have human-like communication and thinking skills, recognize new situations and adapt to them independently. The research requires a triad of AI algorithms, AI systems and the synergy between natural and artificial intelligence. hessian.AI is intended to contribute to the strengthening and long-term expansion of the existing AI innovation ecosystem in Hesse and act as a magnet for companies, talents, investors and users as well as a breeding ground for start-ups and innovations.
