To mark the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology 2025, the German Physical Society awarded the title "Quantum Place" to 100 research locations that make a significant contribution to the quantum landscape in Germany. Among them is the Institute of Physics at the University of Kassel. "For many years of cutting-edge research and teaching on the quantum physics of atoms, molecules, surfaces, solids and nanostructures," reads the explanatory statement. A corresponding plaque was placed in the entrance area of the Heinrich-Plett-Straße site.
