Vita  (Liene Hennig)

Liene Hennig joined the Chair for social-ecological interactions in agricultural systems in November 2025 to carry out a PhD in the DFG Research Unit FOR5903 Sustainable Rurbanity – Resources, Society and Regulatory Systems. Prior to this employment, she has worked as an intern and junior scientist at the Food System Sciences Department of the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL in Switzerland. She holds a M.Sc. in Agroecology from NMBU (Norway) and ISARA (France) and a B.A. in Economics and Languages from the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena (Germany).


Research foci  (Liene Hennig)

As a PhD student, Liene Hennig is working on effects of tree-based agriculture on ecosystem service supply, distribution and access in rurban environments. Her research draws from social-ecological systems approaches and combines biophysical and sociocultural data. During her master’s studies and at FiBL, her research mainly focused on the adoption of biodiversity-friendly farming practices and on migrant workers in Swiss vegetable farming.
