Plants have been discovered, used, cultivated and spread as the basis of human life for thousands of years. Sagas, legends and stories from ancient agro-pastoral habitats depict the interaction between environmental conditions, plants, animals and humans. Oral traditions can be used to better understand ancient knowledge about the distribution and use of plants and to preserve this for posterity.
