Invitation to the field day: Focus on climate change - problems and potentials in organic farming

Invitation to the field day Focus on climate change - problems and potentials in organic farming

When: July 3, 2025, 9:30 a.m.

Where: Hessian state domain Frankenhausen, 34393 Grebenstein

There is no frost in winter, no rain in spring - and summers are getting hotter and drier. Climate change is affecting agriculture to the core. Severe fluctuations in yields or even complete crop failures are on the increase. But there is also potential for climate-friendly and resilient farming - whether it's the use of compost to improve soil structure, the application of mulch in vegetable cultivation to combat drought or intelligent irrigation systems.

We would like to talk and discuss this - directly in the field. We cordially invite you to take part in the field day "Focus: Climate change - problems and potentials in organic farming" at the Hessian State Domain Frankenhausen. On site, you will gain exciting insights into current research results on the measurement of greenhouse gases as well as practical experiments on adaptation strategies to climate change. Among other things, measures to increase efficiency in various organic farming systems, the targeted use of catch crops and nutrient-efficient and water-saving plowing strategies will be discussed. Another focus will be on the use of mulch in vegetable cultivation in combination with digital solutions - for example in the establishment of modern irrigation systems.

Please register by June 23 so that we can better plan the catering:anmeldung[at]agrar.uni-kassel[dot]de

We look forward to your participation!
