M.Sc. Sara Grossi

Sara graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Forest and Environmental Sciences from the University of Florence in 2022, with a thesis in plant pathology titled “Endophytic presence of Gnomoniopsis castaneae in pre-harvest fruits”. After spending a few months abroad, she decided to enroll in the Master's program in Plant and Microbial Biotechnology at the University of Pisa, from which she graduated in 2025 with a thesis in Agricultural Chemistry titled “Sequential cropping of Salicornia europaea and Atriplex hortensis for the desalination of saline solutions: Impact on the growth of tomato plants in hydroponic culture.”
During this experience, she acquired skills in UV-Vis fluorescence spectroscopy, liquid chromatography and in vivo chlorophyll fluorescence analysis.

In March 2025, she moved to Germany as a postgraduate student through the Erasmus+ program to undertake an internship under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Susanne Neugart at the Georg-August University of Göttingen, in the Division of Quality and Sensory of Plant Products.

In June 2025, she joined the research group of Prof. Dr. Fabian Weber at the University of Kassel as a PhD student, focusing on the study of polysaccharides as part of the project “A Future for Kale.”
