The GNR group has 200 m² of laboratory space equiped with standard devices like muffel furnace, photometer, several drying ovens, laboratory scales, mills etc. Additionally, the following advanced equipment is used:

The material and energy recovery of residual biomass is a research focus of the department, for which the department has extensive infrastructure at its disposal. This includes a continuously operated pyrolysis and activation reactor for the production of plant and activated carbons, as well as various processing methods for biomass (IFBB laboratory plant, mills, pellet and briquette press).

Technical center

One research focus at the FG GNR is the remote sensing of plant characteristics in grassland and arable land. We have access to extensive equipment that allows us to carry out terrestrial and drone-based remote sensing with various sensors (hyperspectral, multispectral, thermal, RGB).

Part of the scientific work of the GNR is implemented outdoors, mainly in specifically prepared field trial plots, but also in the practicing areas.

Trial plots used for research are located in Neu-Eichenberg and in Reiffenhausen.
