Curriculum Vitae

Diana Ismael, a nutritionist, is a PhD candidate and a junior scientist in the Department of Organic Food Quality and Food Culture in the University of Kassel, Germany. She is a research assistant in ERASMUS+ project SusPlus ‘Innovative Education towards Sustainable Food Systems’.

Ms. Ismael is currently pursuing her doctoral studies on the development of a new methodology of using sensory science as a tool to detect the intention-behavior gap in the organic food consumption under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Angelika Ploeger. She obtained her BSc. in Agricultural Engineering and her first MSc. degree in Agricultural Economics from Tishreen University, Syria. During her first Master, she analyzed the local market of milk and its derivatives in Lattakia, Syria.

In 2014, Ms. Ismael was awarded the International Master scholarship of EDAMUS to obtain her second Master’s degree in ‘’Sustainable Management of Food Quality’’. Through the EDAMUS program she studied different topics in three universities and two institutes, Nutrition at Université de Montpellier 1 (France), Organic Food Production at University of Basilicata and the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (Italy), Agro-food Marketing at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza (Spain), internship at University of Kassel. Through her internship, at the University of Kassel, Ms. Ismael integrated her knowledge in the field of neuro-linguistic programming with sensory science to develop a new methodology in sensory evaluation.

As work experience, Mrs. Ismael occupied previously the position of: Head of Planning Department at the Syrian Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour for three years. She also worked as a soft skills trainer in Injaz training center, Latakia, Syrian.

Mrs. Ismael research areas are sensory science, nutrition, organic food, marketing and consumer behavior.
