Introduction

Kathrin Stenchly is a researcher at the section of Grassland and Renewable Resources at the University of Kassel and Managing Director of CliMA, the Competence Centre for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation at the University of Kassel. She studied biology at the University of Leipzig and received her doctorate on spider communities in cocoa agroforestry systems in Indonesia from the Georg-August-University of Göttingen, Department of Agroecology. After her doctorate, her research focused on increasing resource use efficiency in urban agricultural systems to contribute to improving food security in West African cities (www.urbanfoodplus.org).

She is currently involved in two research projects:

RE-DIRECT - EU Interreg NWE "REgional Development and Integration of unused biomass wastes as REsources for Circular products and economic Transformation".

DBU Lupine - "Preservation and Restitution of Species Diversity in the Mountain Meadows of the Rhön Biosphere Reserve - Management of the Invasive Perennial Lupine (Lupinus polyphyllus Lindl.) in a Complex Protected Area System

Your research interests include:

  • Temporal-spatial dynamics and functional ecology of species communities in agricultural systems
  • Effects of irrigation with (un)treated wastewater on plants and associated insect communities
  • Method development of knowledge transfer as a basis for a dynamic cycle of knowledge generation, knowledge exchange and social learning in inter- and transdisciplinary cooperations
