Sören Köpke is a political scientist. He has a Masters degree in Political Science and English and American Studies from Leibniz University Hannover and studied at National University of Ireland, Galway. His research focuses on the political ecology of agriculture and food production, with an emphasis on global environmental change and environmental conflicts in rural contexts. He conducted field research, mostly in Sri Lanka, on several occasions. Currently he is finalising his PhD in political science at the Institute of Social Sciences at the Technical University of Braunschweig, where he taught bachelor and master courses in political ecology, climate policy, social aspects of water management and international relations from 2012 to 2016.
Sören Köpke works as a TV journalist in Hannover, Germany, since 2002. He is a co-founder and managing editor of the academic journal Future of Food: Journal on Food, Agriculture & Society.
In the summer semester 2018 he will teach the course „Critical Perspectives on the International Food System“.
