The Department of Construction Organization and Construction Methods at the Institute of Construction Management has been headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Volkhard Franz since 1996. In research and teaching, it focuses on all essential contents relevant for the technical and economic operation of a construction site.

This includes construction process engineering and methods of process selection, construction machinery technology and machine deployment planning, work preparation and organization of construction site processes in building construction and civil engineering.

Other key topics include the tasks of the site manager in the planning and realization, control and accounting of demanding construction measures as well as integration into construction company management.
