The team from the Department of Construction Materials and Construction Chemistry and the Official Materials Testing Institute for the Construction Industry took 15 people on an excursion to Bamberg on October 9-10. A special guided tour of the city provided insights into the geological and urban planning features of the old town, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. This poses special challenges for the protection of historical monuments, which Mr. Bauer-Bornemann was able to illustrate with examples of various buildings.

On the second day, our team was able to gain an insight into the work of the Institute for Archaeological Sciences, Monument Studies and Art History (IADK), which is located in the old town. In addition to current research topics, we were given an insight into the extensive laboratory facilities of Prof. Dr. Paul Bellendorf's interdisciplinary team. On behalf of all excursion participants, we would like to thank the IADK.
