On 20.05.2025, Jonas Harz successfully defended his doctoral thesis entitled "Modeling the tourist transport demand of day and overnight guests in large cities". In his dissertation, he developed a novel model concept to model the mobility behavior of guests in large cities. The data basis for the developed models was a guest survey in the city of Kassel, which was used to survey the mobility behavior of day and overnight guests on a vacation day. The survey and model concept provide an important basis for the further development of transport demand models with regard to tourist traffic. This enables them to better map transport planning measures and forecast their effects, particularly in cities with a high demand for tourism.
