On Monday, October 27, 2025, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Kassel-Marburg and the University of Kassel awarded the IHK Science Prize 2025 to outstanding scientific work. Under the motto "Research with impact", research work of high scientific quality and economic relevance was honored. One of the nominees was Dr.-Ing. Cristin Umbach with her dissertation on "Investigation of the fracture behavior of lightweight concretes under uniaxial compressive loading using high-resolution computed tomography".

We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate this year's prize winner, Dr. Thomas Izgin, for his dissertation on the development of stable solution methods for differential equations with non-linear time integrators.
