On Monday, October 27, 2025, the University of Kassel and the Kassel-Marburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) honored several outstanding research projects with the 2025 IHK Science and Research Award at the Haus der Wirtschaft in Kassel. The Science and Promotion Award reflects the close partnership between academia and industry in North Hesse and sends a strong signal about the region’s innovative strength. Under the motto“Research with Impact,”research projects of high scientific quality and economic significance were recognized.

Among the nominees was Mareike Schaake from the Department of Structural Engineering. Her master’s thesis focuses on fatigue stress and damage analysis of hemmed plate connections in bridge construction. Dr. Thomas Izgin received the IHK Science Award for his dissertation on Runge-Kutta-like time integrators. Chris René Hoffmann accepted the Encouragement Award for his master’s thesis on hybrid solar thermal heat pump systems.
