Under this year’s theme, “Concrete Fairy Tales,” the team from the University of Kassel participated in the 2026 Concrete Canoe Regatta in Brandenburg an der Havel. With plenty of creativity, craftsmanship, and engineering expertise, they designed, built, and successfully launched their own concrete canoe.

The regatta once again provided an opportunity to put theoretical knowledge from studies and research into practice—from material development and construction to design. In addition to the athletic competition, the focus was on teamwork, exchanges with other universities, and the joy of innovative concrete solutions.

The Kassel team looks back on an exciting and “fairy-tale-like” experience at the regatta and is already looking forward to the next challenges involving concrete as a building material.
