Numerical investigations

At the Department of Geotechnical Engineering, 2- and 3-dimensional models can be investigated numerically, taking into account the time-dependent material behaviour of soils and components as well as dynamic effects, e.g. by means of

  • Stress-deformation calculations (e.g. analysis of the load-bearing behaviour of foundations),
  • Coupled flow and deformation calculations (e.g. analysis of consolidation processes),
  • Coupled flow and heat transport calculations (e.g. analysis of the temperature distribution around a geothermal probe field).
