Erasmus+ is a mobility program for students and employees. Our department launched this program in 2023 and has established cooperation with four Erasmus+ partner regions: the Western Balkans (Albania), Sub-Saharan Africa (Ghana, Uganda, Ethiopia), Ukraine, Georgia and the Caribbean (Trinidad and Tobago). So far, we have been working with partners from Africa (Uganda, Ghana, Ethiopia) and Eastern Europe (Georgia, Albania, Ukraine). The Erasmus+ mobility exchange program has been active in our department since 2023. We continue to work with partner institutions in four regions: Western Balkans (Albania), Sub-Saharan Africa (Ghana, Uganda, Ethiopia), Ukraine, Georgia and the Caribbean (Trinidad and Tobago).
The main objectives of the Erasmus+ mobility program include staff mobility for the exchange of academic and non-academic staff for training, job shadowing, study visits and participation in workshops or seminars; the preparation and evaluation of mobility activities; the development of joint publications; and the initiation of externally funded projects. Student mobility focuses on individual research projects and work in the context of doctoral studies, dissertations or laboratory work using a mobility simulator for personal research purposes (at the University of Kassel). For doctoral candidates, the program focuses on the preparation of joint publications and the initiation of projects with third-party funding.
So far, inter-institutional agreements (IIAs) have been signed with the following universities:
| Region | Country | University |
|---|---|---|
| Sub-Saharan Africa | Ghana | University of Cape Coast |
| Uganda | Makerere University | |
| Ethiopia | Mekelle University | |
| Western Balkans | Albania | Polytechnic University of Tirana |
| Ukraine/Georgia | Ukraine | Lviv Polytechnic National University |
| Georgia | Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University | |
| Georgia | Ilia State University |
In the last two years, we have organized several student and staff exchanges and hosted 11 students and 26 employees.
