Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management

Welcome

to the web pages of the Department Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management which is subordinate to the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University Kassel.
The Department Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management was founded on the 1st of March 1991. Prof. Dr. -Ing. Stephan Theobald is the head of the Department since 1st of October 2005.
The research and teaching aims at a better understanding of flow mechanical processes, especially in the interplay with the operation of hydraulic structures and/or the development of rivers.
Further focus points include the formulation and improvement of methods, tools and models which show the effects of various measures at and in watercourses and serve as a basis of activity for later implementation plans. Key Topics are hydropower and navigation flood protection and flood risk management, water development and river basin management, automated operation of dammed river systems and adaptation to climate change. The range of application is manifold, he can vary from river basin modelling to nearfield analysis of hydraulic structures.
