2020 | März | HiPerMat 2020 [engl.]
From March 11 - 13, 2020, the 5th HiPerMat conference took place at the Campus Center of the University of Kassel; an international symposium on UHPC and high-performance materials, which is organized every 4 years at the University of Kassel jointly by the Department of Structural Materials and Construction Chemistry and the Department of Concrete Structures. Of the 190 participants registered, only 96 international guests were able to attend in person due to the just beginning corona pandemia. Nevertheless, HiPerMat 2020 offered an international scientific platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas in the academic and industrial environment, as the lectures could be followed by all participants worldwide not only in the lecture hall, but also via live stream on the Internet. A total of 43 lectures and 12 posters were presented on the topics of load-bearing capacity, application, rheology, bridges, composite behaviour of proven performance, durability as well as ecological and economic optimisation of high-performance building materials. In three plenary lectures the current topics of sustainability, standardisation and the necessity of repairing infrastructure structures were addressed. Another conference highlight was the special session in honour of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ekkehard Fehling, who celebrated his 60th birthday in October last year. National and international professors lectured on current research questions in the field of ultra-high performance concretes. At the end of the special session, Professor Fehling gave a summary of his extensive scientific activities in the field of earthquake engineering and demonstrated the potential for transfer from science to practice using the example of structures for astronomy. The discussions could then be continued at the conference dinner in the Brüderkirche in a solemnising ambience.
The organisers would like to thank all conference participants, sponsors and exhibitors and the numerous people who organised and helped in the background.
Stay healthy and please make a note already now of the date for the 6th HiPerMat: March 2024!!!
