Zusammenfassung

This presentation addresses the principles and practical challenges of earthquake-resistant design of buildings in Armenia, a country located in a high seismic risk zone. It reviews the seismic hazard context, the evolution of Armenian seismic design regulations, and typical structural systems used in residential and public buildings. Special attention is given to reinforced concrete frame and shear wall systems, common design deficiencies observed in existing buildings, and lessons learned from past earthquakes. The presentation highlights modern performance-based design approaches and emphasizes the importance of code compliance, structural regularity, and quality construction for improving seismic safety.
