Research Focus
My research focuses on the resilience of groundwater systems and microbially mediated biogeochemical processes under climate-induced stress. As part of the ADAPT project, I investigate how prolonged droughts and irrigation with treated wastewater influence trace substance transport and nutrient cycling in aquifer and soil systems. In my work, I combine laboratory column experiments with reactive transport modeling to study how microbial communities and their metabolic activity respond to changing water availability and chemical stressors.
I also have experience with electrokinetic-enhanced biodegradation in the subsurface. I am particularly interested in how microbial, chemical and hydrogeological processes interact in groundwater systems and affect contaminant behavior.
