Prof. Dr. Gerrit Hornung has been a member of the Research Center for Information Systems Design (ITeG) at the University of Kassel since 2015.
Our Research Group studies the legal criteria for the design of IT systems in order to translate them into concrete design requirements. This is and can be done only in an interdisciplinary research cooperation.
The research group Public Law, IT Law and Environmental Law, headed by Prof. Dr. Gerrit Hornung, LL.M., focuses on interdisciplinary, technology-related legal research and teaching. In collaboration with researchers from technical and social science disciplines, central legal issues of the information society are examined with a view to the current challenges of digitalization. On the one hand, the aim is to contribute to the legally compliant design of new technologies so that they can be used in practice in accordance with applicable law. On the other hand, new social conflicts and thus new challenges for the law arise from the constant technological change. New regulatory strategies for legislators and legal practitioners are being developed in order to meet these challenges
