Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Kurt Geihs

Prof. Dr Kurt Geihs was a member of the ITeG research centre – the Research Centre for Information Systems Design (ITeG) since October 2014 – at the University of Kassel from 2006 to 2023. From 2010 to 2013, Professor Geihs was spokesperson for the first LOEWE research focus at the University of Kassel: ‘Design of technical-social networking in situational ubiquitous systems (VENUS)’, which was based at the ITeG. In this role, Professor Geihs also led the ITeG as Managing Director into the establishment phase as a scientific centre.

Especially for autonomously operating technical systems in everyday environments, embedding them in the social context and observing ethical guidelines is playing an increasingly important role. The cooperation with our colleagues at the ITeG provides us with valuable impulses for the design of such systems from a socio-technical perspective.

Until March 2021, Professor Geihs headed the Distributed Systems department, whose research focused on the design of cooperating, dynamically adaptive and socially acceptable IT systems. Areas of application included service-orientated software architectures, teamwork in multi-robot systems, mobile cloud computing and the resilience of critical infrastructures.
