Welcome to the homepage of the research group in Nanophotonics at the faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Kassel. Together with our colleagues in the Departments of Technological Electronics and Technological Physics we are the Institute of Nanostructure Technologies and Analytics.

We are working in the field of research and development of optical and opto-electronical devices with micro- and nanostructure technologies. Our topics are focused on the interaction of light and structures with feature sizes in the range of the applied wavelength or below.

The Institute is equipped with modern cleanroom facilities including a class 1 cleanroom section. We use processing technologies, including various deposition techniques, wet and dry etching processes, focussed ion beam (FIB) technologies and optical lithography, electron beam lithography and nanoimprint lithography. Additional laboratory facilities for optical and electrical characterization as well as sample preparation are available at our institute.

In our research projects we design and investigate new structures and their application in fields like sensor technology or light emitters. Related processing techniques and characterization methods are developed and optimized if required.

We cooperate with other groups in the department Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the "Center for Interdisciplinary Nanostructure Science and Technology" (CINSaT) and national and international partners.
