Admission of three more ITeG professors to the Hessian Center for AI – hessian.AI

Three more ITeG professors were selected as new members by the board of the Hessian Center for AI – hessian.AI in December 2024.
Prof. Dr. Klaus David, head of the ITeG's Department of Communication Technology, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Sick, head of the Department of Intelligent Embedded Systems and Prof. Dr. Matthias Söllner, head of the Department of Information Systems and Systems Development at the ITeG Scientific Center at the University of Kassel.
They bring their expertise in the areas of context-based applications supported by artificial intelligence (David), machine and collaborative-interactive learning (Sick) and trust and hybrid intelligence (Söllner) to the network and will further enrich the research activities of the Hessian AI Center.
The Hessian Center for Artificial Intelligence hessian.AI was founded in 2020 to bring together the expertise and skills of the original 22 founding professors in Hesse. 20 additional professorships were created. In cooperation with 13 participating universities, the center stands for excellent research, application orientation, promotion of young talent and transfer to business and society.
"We are very pleased that we, as the Scientific Center for Information Technology Management (ITeG) here at the University of Kassel, are now represented by three additional new members of the Hessian AI Center, who will enrich hessian.AI with their research activities," says Gerd Stumme, Managing Director of ITeG and, as Head of the Knowledge Processing Department at the University of Kassel, one of the 22 founding professors of hessian.AI.
hessian.AI is a center with a forward-looking and internationally competitive research profile and a future-oriented research agenda. The main scientific goal is to establish the third wave of AI - novel AI systems that have human-like communication and thinking skills, recognize new situations and adapt to them independently. The research requires a triad of AI algorithms, AI systems and the synergy between natural and artificial intelligence. hessian.AI is intended to contribute to the strengthening and long-term expansion of the existing AI innovation ecosystem in Hesse and act as a magnet for companies, talents, investors and users as well as a breeding ground for start-ups and innovations.
