Prof. Dr. Martin Potthast - New member of the ITeG Research Center

We are pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Martin Potthast as a new member of our Research Center for Information Systems Design (ITeG). In April 2024, he was appointed Professor of Deep Semantic Learning at the University of Kassel and joined the Hessian Center for Artificial Intelligence hessian.AI.

His research in the fields of Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval and Artificial Intelligence lies at the interface of computer science and society. Numerous contributions from his Research Group provide new algorithms and tools that help to solve specific social problems. In much of this research, the evaluation of benefits for human actors in selected use cases plays a prominent role. Search engines, for example, are evaluated based on human feedback on the quality of their search results.

In April 2025, the Presidential Board of the University of Kassel decided to admit Prof. Dr. Martin Potthast to the ITeG. The collaboration with him began much earlier and represents a great enrichment for the ITeG in terms of both content and methodology.
