The ITeG 2025 Annual Report is now available online

The Research Center for Information Systems Design (ITeG) at the University of Kassel was established in 2005 as a result of a research project that brought together the fields of communications engineering, technology law, and information systems. The decision to establish a permanent structure to systematically research the emerging digital world proved to be far-sighted. Today, twelve research groups at ITeG combine research on socially desirable information technology from a socio-technical perspective. With this holistic approach, the ITeG has been shaping the digital future in a socially responsible, transparent, and user-oriented manner for two decades.
In 2025, the topic “Self-determination in the Digital Society” was identified by the German Informatics Society (Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V.)—at the suggestion of the ITeG Research Center—as one of the five Grand Challenges that will significantly shape research in computer science and related fields. It served as the central theme of the panel discussion at the ITeG anniversary conference on October 8, 2025, held at the CampusCenter of the University of Kassel.
In this 2025 Annual Report, we look back on this anniversary conference and on many significant activities in research, networking, and public outreach—of which the annual report can always present only a selection.
