Disy Informationssysteme GmbH was founded in 1997 as a technology spin-off of Forschungszentrum Informatik Karlsruhe (FZI) and University of Karlsruhe (KIT) and has about 90 employees in 2017. Based on its own software products, Disy provides its customers with tailor-made solutions for data management and analysis, reporting and evaluation systems as well as spatial data infrastructures. Disy implements web- and service-based, distributed information systems based on open standards (OGC, W3C, ISO). The customers mainly come from the public administration in Germany and Austria and deal with environmental and geodata in application areas such as nature, environmental and consumer protection, agriculture and forestry, spatial and environmental planning, internal security and much more. The interdisciplinary Disy team includes computer scientists, geoinformaticians, agricultural scientists, geo-ecologists, geographers and engineers. The interdisciplinary team composition with various connections between computer science and natural and engineering sciences is a basis for Disy's role in SynSICRIS as "mediator" between the professional requirements of the users and the technical implementation of these requirements with the software solution developed in SynSICRIS.
