Publishing in Top Journals

  • Three-day doctoral seminar with Jason Thatcher on September 19th, 22nd, and 23rd 2025.

  • This seminar focuses on two key aspects of publishing in top journals:
    1. Using generative AI to support academic writing
    2. Crafting compelling research hooks and positioning your work for high-impact publication
  • The core content will be delivered in two plenary sessions on September 22nd and 23rd.
  • Selected students will also have the opportunity to present their research and receive individual feedback during paper coaching sessions with the speaker.
  • On September 22nd, a networking event will take place right after the plenary session at the same location (ITeG), bringing together the speaker and all participants.

Target Group


  • The input sessions are open to all graduates of the faculties associated with the ITeG (FB 05, 07, 15, 16).
  • The event is primarily intended for young scientists from Kassel.

  • The event will take place at ITeG, Pfannkuchstr. 1, 34121 Kassel, Room 0420.

Speaker: Jason Thatcher

Prof. Dr. Jason Thatcher,
Tandean Rustandy Esteemed Endowed Chair at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado-Boulder.

Jason Thatcher studies individual decision-making, strategic alignment, and workforce issues related to the effective and secure application of information technologies in organizations. His more recent projects direct attention to cybersecurity and social media. He works on these topics with colleagues in the United States, Asia, and Europe. His work appears in MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Applied Psychology, and other outlets. He appears on the MIS Quarterly’s most prolific authors list, placing him in the top 35 or so active researchers in the Information Systems discipline.

He serves as Senior Editor at Information Systems Research as well as Journal of the Association for Information Systems and has served as Senior Editor at MIS Quarterly. He served on the editorial boards of the European Journal of Information Systems, Decision Sciences, and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. He was recognized as a top Associate Editor by Information Systems Research.
