INCHER & Zell Research Colloquium: Knowledge integration patterns in AI: A firm-level taxonomy and performance implications

We cordially invite you to participate in the INCHER research colloquium on November 19th at 4.30 p.m. Learn from Dr Nils Grashof about the results of his research on how basic and applied knowledge in artificial intelligence (AI) affects firms' adoption of AI.

Speaker: Dr. Nils Grashof, Universität Kassel, FB 07 Wirtschaftswissenschaften, Institut für Volkswirtschaftslehre, Kassel

Abstract: This study investigates how the combination of basic and applied knowledge in Artifical Intelligence (AI) affects firms' adoption of AI and, ultimately, their performance. Using a unique dataset that combines publication data (which captures basic research), patent statistics (which represent applied research), and web-based indicators (which measure AI implementation) at the firm level, we found positive associations between applied AI research, AI implementation, and firm productivity. Additionally, we found slight evidence that firms can compensate for limitations in their internal AI knowledge base through external collaborations.

Almost all INCHER lectures are hybrid events, i.e. you are welcome to attend our colloquia on site at the University of Kassel, International House, University of Kassel, Mönchebergstraße 11a, 34125 Kassel, or participate via ZOOM after registering with Susanne Koch (koch@incher.uni-kassel.de). Ms Koch will provide you with an access code. For direct participation on site  no registration is required.
