Workpackage 3 - Sorption Processes
In open sorption processes, the air used for space heating or drying application is de-humidified by a hygroscopic material. While wet air flows along the material, during the sorption process condensation and binding energy is released and the air is heated. During summer time, the hygroscopic material (ab- or adsorbant) is dried again with solar energy. Concentrated and week sorption material can be used as storage material with very low losses.
New conferences and expert groups dealing with this topic were established only recently. Nevertheless, there are only very few products available, today. Most investigations focus on concepts and experimental studies of closed cycle sorption processes for seasonal storage.
