Doctoral students whose parents have not studied are often confronted with their own questions and challenges when doing their doctorate. The Centre for Junior Scholars (CJS) at TU Berlin organised information events in 2021 and 2022 to raise awareness of the issue and initiate dialogue. This tradition will be continued in 2024. The Arbeiterkind.de initiative has its own office at TU Berlin. The initiative, which is basically aimed at first-generation students, has also set up its own group for first-generation doctoral students, who exchange information on the special topics as doctoral students.
