Research thrives on diverse perspectives. In order to promote this multi-perspectivity, it is advisable to raise awareness of research topics and issues that are particularly relevant to gender and diversity. For example, the Research Training Group ‘multiscale clocks’ organised the conference ‘Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion - Navigating DEI Frontiers in Research’ with a discipline-oriented view of the natural sciences. Over the course of two days, lectures, workshops and discussion panels were organised on various topics.
The Faculty of Architecture, Urban Planning and Landscape Planning organised a two-day workshop to develop new perspectives in teaching and the development of degree programmes. The first day of the course focussed on the importance of gender and diversity in architecture, urban and landscape planning projects. Relevant concepts and issues from gender and diversity studies were discussed and linked to the content of the subject area. On the second day of the course, participants addressed the question of how gender and diversity can be integrated into the curricula of architecture, urban and landscape planning. In addition, the participants learnt about various approaches to integrating the gender/diversity aspects into a university curriculum. Based on the results, potential approaches for the department's degree programmes were developed and discussed.
