PowerMail | Forms
Overview
Step-by-step to the PowerMail form
Select the "PowerMail" content element under "Plug-ins".
In the "General" tab, name your PowerMail element.
- If you want to integrate an existing form, select it via "Select PowerMail form". However, it is usually better to create a new form. Note: If you integrate an existing form, make sure that you only overwrite fields in the newly created position/page.
- Create a new form using the "+" next to "Please select a form". (To do this, please follow the steps in 3.1)
- The "Activate confirmation page" button can be selected if a confirmation page is required after submitting the form.
- If "E-mail must be confirmed (double opt-in)" is selected, the persons must confirm their e-mail address via a separately sent e-mail before the form can finally be submitted.
- "Where should the emails be saved?": You can select an e-mail inbox to which all submitted forms will be sent. However, it is recommended that you create an extra folder (e.g. directly under the page with the form) in which you also save all responses. You then select this folder in the bottom field.
- If you have selected the "+" for a new form, the editing screen opens.
- First enter the name of the new form there.
- Then select "Create new page", where you also enter a name.
- The option "Create new fields" now appears under the name. You can now create your question fields there.
- Give each question a name. Then select the answer type (text field, selection field, single/multiple selection etc.). If necessary, also assign the answer options.
- If you are asking for the sender's name or e-mail address, select the relevant button below. ("This field contains the sender's name/e-mail address"). This is necessary so that reply mails can be delivered correctly.
- You can then save and create further fields.
- Remember to create a data protection notice.
- Then save and select the new form in the "Plugin" tab. (See step 2)
Important: Create the "Submit" button as the last field of the form. To do this, select the type "Submit field".
In addition to the "General" tab, you will find the "Advanced" tab in a new form for the questions you have created. You can make various configurations here:
- Specify whether it is a mandatory field.
- Field validation: Here you can specify an extra check of the data entered. However, this is not recommended in order to avoid problems when filling out the form.
- Pre-fill field: You can, for example, enter a placeholder text for text fields, providing more detailed information on the queried facts if required. This text appears highlighted in the text field and is then overwritten by the user.
- Variable name: This can be relevant if you are designing the recipient page (e.g. to enter directly in the subject line who submitted the form). Copy the variable name for this purpose. Further information follows under point 4 "Recipients".
In the "Recipient" tab, select the e-mail address to which the completed and sent forms should be sent. You can enter several e-mail addresses as recipients.
You can also insert the variable name from point 3.2. in the subject line to display further information (such as who completed the form) directly.
Important: All fields in the "Recipients" tab must be completed.
You can send a confirmation e-mail to the sender of the form. To do this, select the e-mail address from which they are to be sent and add a subject and the content of the message.
If you have activated that there is a reply page (see step 2), you can define the text for the reply page in this tab.
In the "Recipient", "Sender" and "Reply page" tabs, {powermail_all} is coded into the text fields by default. This means that all replies are sent again. You can also remove this, e.g. if you do not want users to receive an overview of their responses on the reply page.
