Workshops

The International Summer University Kassel ist proud to offer you a selection of workshops which you can attend during your stay in Kassel. They all focus on practical aspects and will be held in English once every week in the afternoons (= 8h in total). One workshop is included in your fee.

Be a Director! Shoot a Video Documentary About ISU 2006
In this workshop it is all about do-it-yourself. Under the guidance of a professional video artist you will produce a short documentary about the International Summer University, its program, its students or whatever suits your concept.
Take your copy home and show your friends and family where you have been! The documentary will have its world premiere at the closing reception.

Be an Editor! Publish an ISU Magazine on the Web
If you are interested in web publishing or want to get an insight into the editing process of an e-zine you should sign up with our professional e-publisher to do just that. Write articles, make interviews, take pictures, and portray what you think is unique, funny, or interesting about ISU 2006. Thus, you will create not only a valuable collection of individual stories and memories you will keep but also a window to the world and a platform of information for future students.
The e-zine will be presented at the closing reception and linked with the ISU website.

Soccer/Football World Cup 2006 in Germany

Did you know that the Soccer World Cup games are the most watched sporting event in the world, even surpassing the Olympic Games? Did you know that Germany won the World Cup already three times? Or yet, have you any clue what a corner kick is, or what makes a team off-sides? Would you like to find out the answers to these and more questions?
Then the ISU has just the right workshop for you. We are proud to offer you our Soccer World Cup Workshop which runs parallel to the World Cup which is held in Germany. Our workshop will combine classroom experience - where you will learn about the structure, rules, and history of soccer and the World Cup tournament - with outdoor activities - where you will get a chance to demonstrate and improve your soccer skills. With enough interest, we may even organize out own mini-World Cup. there are several places in and around Kassel where we can watch selected matches. Now that’s something your not likely to get at home.

Exploring the "documenta" Modern Art Heritage
Did you know that Kassel hosts the biggest and most prestigious exhibition of modern art worldwide? The documenta takes place every 5 years, the next time in 2007.
However, in 2006 you will already have the opportunity to visit a range of exhibitions and retrospectives together with our professional art guide – e.g. in the oldest museum of the continent, the Fridericianum.
In addition, you will explore the heritage of past exhibitions, traces of which can be found all over the city giving Kassel its unique and inspiring character.

If you want to receive 2 credit points for a workshop you will have to pay an additional Euro 80 and hand in a paper.
