Horizon project EU-CHINA BRIDGE launched

The "Sustainable Technology Design" and "Solar and Systems Engineering" sections are starting their work in the EU Horizon 2020 project "EU-CHINA BRIDGE". During the three-year project period, they will focus on the defossilization of the petrochemical industry and the topic of industrial heat.

The EU Horizon 2020 project "EU-CHINA BRIDGE" started its work in April 2024 with an international European consortium and a Chinese sister consortium. The overarching goal of EU-CHINA BRIDGE is to support the transition to a climate-neutral and resilient society in Europe and China. To this end, the project partners will jointly generate knowledge about technological innovations and roadmaps for the climate-neutral production of energy-intensive raw materials such as steel and plastics.

Two sections of the University of Kassel's Faculty of Mechanical Engineering will work together with partners such as the Wuppertal Institute and Tsinghua University on the topic of industrial transformation in the EU. The Sustainable Technology Design section will focus on the development of scenarios and roadmaps for the defossilization of the petrochemical industry, while the Solar and Systems Engineering section will analyse new forms of energy management for high-temperature processes.
