Insight into the world of materials at the STEM Days 2025: pupils discover modern material technologies
The day began with an exciting presentation by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Niendorf on the topic of "Mechanical engineering - for a sustainable future". The participants then learned how bioplastics offer sustainable alternatives to conventional materials, experienced the possibilities of additive manufacturing (3D printing) up close and learned about the impressive properties of shape memory alloys. They were also able to delve deep into the world of materials using modern microscopy.
The event not only offered the young visitors practical experience, but also valuable inspiration for future study and career paths in the field of materials science.
We are already looking forward to the next MINT Days at the University of Kassel!
