Federal Centre for Toxicological, Radiation, and Biological Safety is organized in 1960 and is determined by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation as the head scientific institute on toxicology, radiobiology, and infectious pathology, deposits the eminently dangerous microorganisms for the state needs and it is the Precision centre for development of methods for revealing and estimation of radioactive pollutions and for indication of strong poisonous substances and bacterial agents in objects of environment and in pathological material, food production, fodder and in raw materials. On work of the Centre in many respects depends toxicological and radiation safety and epizootiological and epidemiological well-being of the country.

Laboratory of Physics-chemistry of Nanomaterials was established on April 1, 2006 at the Nikolaev Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, Russia. Our lab main focus is on the development of carbon nanotube and few-layered graphene synthesis and functionalization methods, creation of nanocarbon-based polymers composites and hybrids with quantum dots.

The lab research activities are mainly in the field of electrochemical and biomedical applications:
1) Photo- and electroluminescence of carbon nanotube/quantum dot hybrids;
2) Efficiency of luminescent markers attached to carbon nanotube and graphene;
3) Intracellular hypothermia with laser irradiation of carbon nanotube dispersions;
4) Electrochemical response of nanocarbon/polyaniline composites;
5) Nanocarbon-based biosensors for RNA recognition.

To investigate electron interactions in novel materials, we use soft X-ray spectroscopy (XPS, NEXAFS) and quantum chemistry methods. There are many young scientists in our lab who would benefit a lot from holding the international training.

Research Institute for Complex Issues of Cardiovascular Diseases (NII KPSSZ) is an institution of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, which conducts fundamental and applied medical cardiovascular research, has its own clinical basis, has implemented a quality management system according to ISO 9001:2008.
The Institute conducts registry studies on major cardiovascular diseases (myocardial infarctions, strokes, acquired heart defects and arrhythmias) and takes part in multicentre national and international registry studies. The Institute has participated in more than 60 international randomized placebo-controlled clinical trials in line with ICH GCP principles.
The Institute is looking for partners to conduct studies on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases implementing nanotechnology approaches and the principles of regenerative medicine. Some examples of the topics considered for collaboration are listed below:

  • Biocompatible polymers and the coating improving biocompatibility
  • Nanosized particles for the drug delivery into subcellular organelles
  • Diagnosis based on visualization with quantum dots
  • Diagnosis and treatment of atherosclerosis using nanotechnology approaches

Yaroslavl Branch of Institute for Physics and Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (YB IPT RAS) was established by order № 183 of the Physical and Technological Institute dated on December 12, 2006 pursuant to the decree № 20 of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences dated on January 25, 2006. YB IPT RAS is a separate scientific division of IPT, located outside of the Institute. YB IPT RAS has a separate balance sheet included in the balance of IPT, personal accounts in the Office of the Ministry of Finance of the Federal Treasury of Russia for Yaroslavl region, has a seal with the State Emblem of the Russian Federation and with the designation of the full name in Russian, dies , forms and other details of approved and registered in accordance with the law.
YB IPT RAS is the successor of the Institute of Microelectronics and Computer Sciences, established in Yaroslavl in 1984. The main purpose of Yaroslavl branch of IPT is to conduct basic and applied research in the field of semiconducting devices and technological base of the micro- and nanoelectronics and microsystems technology.
The total number of employees of the Branch 105 people. 43 scientists, including seven doctors, 21 candidates of sciences. The average age is 45 years.
