Part-time position with half the working hours of a full-time employee. This is a fixed term-position of three years with the possibility of extending the contract for a further two years (position for academic qualfication corresponding to § 65 HHG i. Tasks:

We are looking for a candidate who is able to draw on their experience as a technical artist to create an effective learning environment.

You will be expected to tutor students and assist with their problem solving as they create projects using game technologies. You will also be involved in helping with administrative and organisation work with regard to setting up and maintaining the study area ‚Games’ in the department Visual Communication at Kunsthochschule Kassel.

 

  • Services in research and teaching, as well as 4 academic hours per week of independent teaching of the subject area
  • Key aspects within teaching will be the preparation and realization of lectures, seminars, tutorials and field trips as well as the further development of the teaching concept of the subject group
  • Assistance in the application for and realisation of research projects will also be required

 

Requirements:

Candidates must have completed artistic studies with the equivalent of a Master’s degree at an art college or university. A portfolio of projects which show experience with 2D and/or 3D videogame technologies is expected. The portfolio must document your practice as a visual artist or creative programmer, above all showing experience of making works using Unity and/or Unreal game engine.

We are looking for an active and documented participation as practitioner or scholar in the field of independent game development including game types such as: notgames, personal games, walking simulators, story-based interactive projects, and inclusive, diverse strategies of game making. Preferably you are exploring the experimental edge of game aesthetics and game narrative. Previous teaching experience is a plus.

German language proficiency is expected.
