W 3 Professorship in “Urban Water Management”

The faculty is looking for a person with a scientifically excellent track record, who investigates and teaches innovative topics in the field of urban water management and publishes results successfully with high national and international visibility. The scientific approach is expected to be process-based, systemic or procedural. A research focus on at least one of the following topics must be documented:
- Elimination of nutrients, micropollutants, microplastic or antibiotic-resistant germs in waste water,
- Resource recovery from wastewater such as energy or nutrients,
- Drinking water production, treatment and distribution,
- Numerical simulation of processes and material flows (e.g. sewerage, waste water treatment),
- Transformation of the water infrastructure,
- Drinking water and sewage systems in developing countries.
Experiences with application and implementation of third-party funded projects as well as the willingness to take the lead in coordinated research projects are required. Multi-disciplinary cooperations within the faculty and the University of Kassel shall be strengthened by this position.
The chair represents and teaches the full range of urban water management in the degree programs of environmental engineering and civil engineering and, if necessary, further fundamentals in environmental research.
In order to increase the practical relevance in teaching and in engineering research, additional practical experiences in the field of urban water management are a benefit.
For research and teaching, the Hydraulics Laboratory and Testing Facilities for Hydraulics and Environmental Engineering, an analytical laboratory and a trial field at the sewage treatment plant Kassel are available in joint use with other departments.
Profile of qualification:
The participation in the academic administrative autonomy is a job-related task. The employment and performance requirements apply pursuant to §§ 61, 62 of the Higher Education Act of Hessen (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz). The professorship comprises an established post.
