Part-time position with half the working hours of a full-time position, employment is in the context of the BMBF-Project „PEARLS“ (Photonic embedding of active region laser chips on silicon). This is a fixed-term position till 31.03.2022 (§ 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG) (§ 2 Abs. 1 Satz 1 WissZeitVG). Acquisition of doctoral thesis is possible.

 

Tasks:

  • Molecular beam epitaxy of high quality InP-based quantum dot laser structures for integration on Si-Photonic wafers for the  telecom wavelength ranges 1.3 and 1.55 µm
  • Optical and structural characterization of the grown structures
  • Close cooperation with the project partners

Requirements:

  • Candidates are expected to hold a Master degree in physics, and/or nanoscience, and/or electrical engineering
  • Outstanding academic record with background in solid state physics and semiconductor-based nanostructures
  • Good written and spoken English

 

Advantages:

  • Knowledge of epitaxial growth or processing of III-V semiconductor materials
  • Research experience in optical and structural characterization
  • Knowledge with semiconductor laser diodes und their characterization
  • Team working style
