Lecture Series Against Right-Wing Extremism Winter Term 2019/20
The lecture series against right-wing extremism was held for the first time in 2012, in memory of the racist murder of Halit Yozgat. The upcoming series will focus on civil society realms (e.g. trade unions, churches) and protagonists thereof. The discussion will focus on the role they play in relation to right-wing extremism, what dynamics are effective and the positioning they take; or rather what strategies are opened up when dealing with right-wing extremism and radicalisation.
Speakers from various disciplines and faculties will give lectures and reports on the current state of their research. Thus, right-wing populism will be treated as a challenge for trade unions (Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schroeder from the Department of Social Sciences at the Kassel University) or for the Catholic Church (Prof. Dr. Andreas Lob-Hüdepohl, lecturer at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences and member of the German Ethics Council).
The lecture series is aimed at students from the departments 01, 02, 05, but it is also open to all who are interested. It is supported by the presidium of Kassel University, the departments 01, 02, 05 and the general students’ committee (AStA).
