INCHER Kolloquium: „Towards a validated bibliometric measure of topic mobility in science"
Individual researchers may tackle a range of research topics in the course of their careers, some more, some less. A valid bibliometric measure of the degree of such topic mobility would be an important tool to study associations of topic mobility with other individual-level characteristics such as international mobility, co-authorship behavior, or career success. In fact, several measures have been proposed, but none of them have been validated. Here I present preliminary results of a conceptually novel measure, using estimated epistemic distances of publications, and its validation.
