In spring, Dr. Mathias Clobes will take up a professorship in the field of steel construction. He studied civil engineering at the University of Kassel before completing his doctorate at the Technical University of Braunschweig in 2008 on the subject of "Identification and simulation of transient transmission of wind turbulence in the time domain". At the TU Braunschweig, Dr.-Ing. Clobes was head of the wind engineering working group at the Institute of Steel Construction as an academic advisor from 2008 and has been an honorary professor in the field of lightweight steel construction and structural dynamics since 2019. Since 2016, he has been a partner in the engineering firm "EHS beratende Ingenieure für Bauwesen GmbH", where he is head of steel construction planning. Here he is responsible for the planning of steel structures for building and bridge construction for all work phases. His work at the University of Kassel will focus on the effects of wind on slender supporting structures and the service life of steel structures.
